Coach J's comments:
This was a great game; unfortunately we came up on the short end. We played well and had a 4-2 lead going into the bottom of the sixth when they rallied with four runs to take the lead. We battled back in the seventh on a couple of clutch two out singles by Maria Espindola and Jess Mehling driving in key runs. We looked good in the bottom of the 8th with two outs and no one on but Laura Lindau hit her second home run of the game for the win. We had intentionally walked Lindau in her two previous at bats but decided to pitch to her and not put the winning run on. Unfortunately there are no "mulligans" allowed in the game of softball. Jillian Hole pitched a great game for us and certainly deserved a win. She went the distance pitching 7 2/3 innings giving up 2 earned runs on 11 hits. She struck out 17 Wildcat batters and didn't walk anyone other than the two intentional walks to Lindau. Jillian was very sharp with her command of her pitches. We had two hits a piece from Jess Mehling and Maria Espindola. Destiny Kaus and Emily Olafson also had a hit. Jess drove in two runs and Sadie Riendeau had three runs batted in. I was very pleased with the effort.
