Coach J's comments:
We saved our most complete game of the season for one of our biggest games of the season. We needed one win today to advance to the Region XIII Tournament and left no doubt that we were ready. We had an outstanding pitching performance from Jess Audette, some solid defensive play from everyone, and great hitting to wrap up our tournament berth. Dariann Freer and Sherry Chan led us in hitting with three hits apiece. Danielle Gibson and Karlee Brown each had two hits while Jess Howard, Jess Carson, and Amber Gabel also contributed hits. Jess Carson hit a big three run home run in our five run third inning. That was her second round tripper of the weekend. Jess struck out seven and didn't walk anyone in her shutout performance.

We certainly were not as sharp in our final game vs the Wildcats as in our previous three games but we had accomplished our mission by this time. To their credit, they really hit the ball well and made a number of good plays in the field. We hit the ball hard also but either we hit it right at them or they made the plays. Dariann Freer had two hits to lead us at the plate. Others getting hits were Jess Howard, Sherry Chan, Nichole Peters, Sadie Riendeau, Karlee Brown and Amber Gabel. In spite of this loss we had an outstanding weekend. Our goal was to come to Wahpeton and win three and we got that done early. We really hit the ball well and looked solid in the field. We are looking forward to regional play on Thursday, May 9th and Friday, May 10th. We will have to wait to find out if we travel to International Falls or Hibbing. It doesn't matter to us as we are excited to win our first ever State Qualifier series to advance to the regional play. This was a great way to wrap up regular season play.
